FAQs
Why was deadline extended?
The judges felt that there were not enough well designed entries to choose from.
What if there are problems with the bank or the wire transfer to the location in the Philippines?
We'll handle that issue if and when it arises.
What happens if I submit more than 8 entries.
Please give yourself enough time to choose your best 8 entries. Your first 8 entries will be taken.
What happens if I do not name my files as per the guidelines?
Please be sure to follow all the guidelines. Otherwise, your entry may not be distinguishable as yours and your entry will be disqualified.
What are the guidelines?
Here are the guidelines in PDF form.
I cannot join because as per the rules and guidelines of your contest any of my entries would be disqualified.
Please find another contest to join.
I was under the impression that an electronic bank transfer via Western Union was possible. Electronic wire transfers are not limited to countries as this is an International company. Transferring money to a bank account in the Philippines is just as easy as transferring money to a bank in the US, yes?
Yes it is. But the rules state that you must be able to receive wire transfer funds for cash prize to a bank in the Philippines or receive cash at a location in the Philippines.
If I reside outside of the Philippines can I receive prize money at a bank account or location in the Philippines?
Yes.
Can a friend or family member receive the cash prize for me in the Philippines?
Yes. You will have to specify their name and contact info via email when you are notified of your possible winning entry.
Your primary focus should be on getting the BEST logo possible and that has nothing to do with who created it or how that person can receive their cash prize. Three months from now, after the winning logo is in place, who's going to care where it came from? The fact is, pinay.com is going to succeed or fail based on how good the site is, not because of who designed the logo and where they are in the world.
All contests have guidelines and restrictions. For example, some contests limit participants to amateurs, no professionals may participate. Or a school contest may limit participants who go to that school and are of a certain grade level or who have a certain grade percentage.
The best design submission from the QUALIFIED entrant, as per the established rules, will be chosen.
... sounds VERY discriminatory! I hope that this viewpoint isn't indicative of your organisation as a whole. That would be sad.
Pinay.com will be for and by filipina women. It is about
ethnic, national and gender pride.
So although the site will be for and by Filipino women, I do not want to limit the logo design contest to participants who are Filipino women but want to include Filipino men too.
The publishing endeavor of this site is about fighting stereotypes(mail order brides and porn created by online sites
published by Western Men) and discrimination against Filipinas(due to their gender or nationality).
... you are navigating some very tricky territory here... For example, what if someone were only 50% Filipino? Does that adequately fulfill the "Filipino blood" eligibility requirement? What if someone were only 25% Filipino? If you limit the contest to only residents of the Philippines, what if you encountered a British citizen living in Manilla? Is he/she suddenly ineligible?
Shouldn't you change your rules and address eligibility this way?
No, we will not change the rules as per your suggestion. This is because all the things you are questioning here cannot be determined through an online contest nor without alot of hullabaloo, paperwork and complex this-and-that.
That is why the contest is simply designed to award the cash prize via bank or locations that are based within the Philippines.
ALL the rules necessary have already been stated as simply as possible from the beginning.
The best design submission from the QUALIFIED entrant, as per the established rules/guidelines/restrictions, will be chosen.
What happens if you notify me that I have a possible winning entry but I inform you that I cannot receive the funds as specified by the rules.
Your submission/s will be disqualified and the next runner up that qualifies will be named the winner. The winner will be announced only after they have received their cash prize.
I have a really great design that I just know is the winner, but I submitted it late?
Be sure to not procrastinate and to be organized. Submit your design/s on time. Once the judging is over and the winner has been selected, that's it. Be sure to not procrastinate and to be organized. Submit your design/s on time.
I have question but it is not answered here.
Go ahead and contact us via email. If your question is practical and we have time we might answer it via email and add it here.
